The majority of the population in Nepal lives in the villages. Although many patterns of village life have existed, the typical village was small, consisting of perhaps 5 to 30 families. Homes were situated together for sociability and defence, and land surrounding the living quarters was farmed. In the western part of nepal, Mainly in annapurna region, Magars, Gurungs, Thakalis are found in beautiful stone paved villages. In Nepal, village tourism is promoting by government bodies by joining with local groups such as Ama Samuha (Mother group).

The reason why this kind of tourism compares favorably with the traditional one. Money, spent by tourists is given straight to the population. If the rural tourism develops further, it will be able to play an important role in country’s development, decreasing the poverty level. Local administration greatly supports this kind of tourism.
