Kalapatthar inscription stone to be fixed at UN park

Posted by: NTN | Date: June 25, 2010

The stone inscription with information on the Climate Change meeting held at Everest Base Camp, Kalapatthar on December 4, 2009 is going to be fixed at the UN Park located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Thapathali.

It was earlier announced that the inscription would be placed at Kalapatthar itself.

“We cannot carry it to such a high altitude due to its heavy weight. Even choppers refused to carry it,” said a source at the Environment Ministry, adding, “So, we returned it and kept it at Tribhuvan International Airport for around three weeks and ultimately it was decided that it would be fixed at the UN Park.” PM Nepal, two months ago, had announced that the stone would be placed at Kalapatthar.
