Tourism Promotion Program organised in Aberdeen

The Embassy of Nepal, London organised a tourism promotion programme at Aberdeen, Scotland of the United Kingdom on Saturday with special focus on the campaign of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 in coordination with the Nepalese Himalayan Association, Scotland and Scot- Nepalese Friendship Society.
The programme was held at the Town House of Aberdeen. Welcoming the Nepalese ambassador to UK Dr Suresh C. Chalise, the Worshipful Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Peter Stephen, said, ‘’ This event will not only help strengthen the ties between the people of Aberdeen City and Shire and the Nepalese people but encourage new interest in tourism and other business sectors.’’
Ambassador Chalise highlighted the core concepts of the tourism campaign for year 2011 and applauded various facets age-old special ties existing between Nepal and the UK and called for further deepening of relations through various economic co-operations besides tourism.
Ambassador Chalise praised the role of the office of Lord Provost and said, ‘’I am extremely pleased to see that Nepalese living in Scotland are very happy. On behalf of the government of Nepal, I would like to thank you so much for your help and cooperation to the community members.’’
The programme was the first of its kind in Scotland organized by the Nepal Embassy.
Minister Counsellor Jhabindra Aryal presented sights and sound of Nepal through power point emphasizing Nepal’s amazing tourist destinations or centres, national heritage, flora and fauna and cultural sites of historical importance, among other things.
Prof Norman Waugh and Chris Newman of Scotland shared their thrilling experiences during their visits to Nepal through various slides show. A very eager and enthusiastic British audience had attended the programme.
Various tourism publicity materials were distributed to the participating guests. At the end of programme, Nepali cultural programmes were also performed. Coordinator and chair of Nepalese Himalayan Association, Dr. Narayan Prasad Shrestha, thanked all for their help and support in coordinating and making the function a success. Another coordinator and Chair of Scot- Nepalese Friendship Society Mr. Bruce Anderson also spoke at the closing programme thanking all the volunteers and organizing team members.
Ambassador Dr. Chalise also interacted with the Nepalese community as well in Aberdeen on Sunday. During his meeting with the community members he delved into details of the on going peace process of Nepal and expressed confidence that in ten years time Nepal could be an emerging economy. He encouraged all to support the on going peace process from their respective places. In its efforts to extensively publicise and promote the campaign of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, the embassy of Nepal is also scheduled to organize the next programme in Wales in late July, a press release issued by the embassy said.
