German Ambassador Visits Tilaurakot

KAPILVASTU:- German Ambassador to Nepal Matthias Meyer has reached Tilaurakot to observe the ongoing excavations. Meyer took field tour of the excavation site, observing the eastern and western gates of Tilaurakot and the remnants of the palace. Prof Dr Robin Coningham of Durham University, who is also the coordinator of the excavation team, briefed the ambassador about the work.

Stating that Tilaurakot and Lumbini were places inspiring peace, Meyer said the positive vibes and spiritual energy at the site was beyond description.

Similarly, he appealed for all to work together to bring out historical facts and conserve the heritage site. He also visited the Kapilvastu museum and observed ancient artifacts on display.

Before reaching Tilaurakot, Meyer visited Nigrodharam, believed to be the place where Siddhartha had spent his princely life. Nigrodharam is believed to be the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon when visiting Nepal after attaining enlightenment.
